Just a quick note to say hello to an old friend. Found “An Occasional Hell” in a small used bookstore where I am now living. Finding this book brought up many fond memories of evenings gone by with Wayne the suffering poet, you, Ed and a host of others. I don’t remember most of the conversations but I do remember the laughter.

Good morning, Dr. Silvis! I am not sure if you remember me, but I was a student 2-3 of your classes at Slippery Rock..probably one of the only conservative students on the campus. Just wanted to say hi and to see how you were doing.
Respectfully,
Eric
Mr. Silvis,
I just read your recent article in the Jan 2010 issue of The Writer. This is the only place I could find to leave you a message: Thank you. Your article was exactly what I needed today. I could list several quotes in particular, but, really, the whole article resonated with me.
Congratulations on your recent release of Hangtime, A Confession.
Sincerely,
Christi Craig
Mr. Silvis,
I am a Rimersburg native (Cherry Run)and first read some of your columns in the Leader-Vindicator. I was impressed with your writing there and have since followed what news I can find of your writing. Is there any way to find or buy the column you wrote about Snakehead? I have a friend who lived there and have looked high and low for the copy I had saved with no luck. I would like very much to be able to give this to her. It was a deeply moving piece and I admired your courage in writing it. My friend’s last name was Engro. I used to ice skate at Snakehead and my dad was an engineer on the low grade and went by there very often. Of course, “snakehead” is a railroad term. I wish you all the best in your continued impressive career and will appreciate any advice you can give on finding this column or other columns from the L-V. My brother, Homer Buzard, taught at Sandy Hollow for awhile.
Thank you so much.

It’s been a long time since we knew each other at Clarion University. I’ve read many of your books and enjoyed them a lot.
Hi Randall,
Just wanted to drop a note and see how you are doing. It’s been a long time. Hope your writing and everything else in your life is doing well. If you want to catch up, just email or facebook me. I’m glad to read of your recent successes with your work. Take care.

Randall, I’m a great fan of “On Night’s Shore” and “Doubly Dead” and was simply wondering when we can expect another Poesque novel in the near future?
Hello Dr. Silvis,
You and I are related through the Summervilles of Clarion County, I have researched the Summervilles all the way back to Ireland. Many interesting people in our family!
